January 27, 2020 the world marks the 75th anniversary
of the Soviet Army's liberation of Auschwitz, the largest and deadliest Nazi
concentration complex. The camp complex, which included Auschwitz I, Auschwitz
II (Auschwitz-Birkenau) and Auschwitz III, lasted from 1940 to 1945. During
this time, according to various sources, from 1.1 to 2 million people were
destroyed in it, including at least a million Jews, 60 thousand Poles and about
14 thousand Soviet war prisoners. Auschwitz was liberated on January 27, 1945
by soldiers of the First Ukrainian Front of the Red Army. A museum was created
on the camp in 1947, which is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Since
2006, the day of the liberation of Auschwitz by UN decision is celebrated as
International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
January 28 in the American corner Kostanay was an
intellectual game for universities students in the Jeopardy game format «Remember
Holocaust».
The game consisted of 5 blocks: «Who?», «What?», «Where?»,
«When?» And «Why?». In each block there were 5 questions of varying degrees of difficulty
from 100 to 500 points.
In the game participated intellectual clubs «Sparta»
of A. Baitursynov Kostanay State University and the «Horizon» of U. Sultangazi
Kostanay State Pedagogical University. The Horizon team won.
